Infant Dependence

This noisy world cannot supply
more Holy sound than infants cry;
for darlings sincere sonancy
laments a true dependency.
Weakness calls on one more strong,
without you near I am undone.

Now head frocked grey, in life’s clenched fist,
once strong now weak our cries persist;
poor weeping souls in prayer we bleed,
decrying brokenness and need.
Weakness calls on one more strong,
without you here I am undone.

An Amphigouri riff about a
pocket-watch lost in the tall grass,

 Alas! And do cruel pirates sail
‘mongst towering waves of grasses green?

Perhaps!  Frogs jade, and pimpled pale
half frightened, dive to depths unseen.

Indeed! I plead, may snail and whale
give credence where, and what they’ve seen.

Oh, treasure lost in verdant dale,
unctuous yon ticking tangerine!

Return! I, lest in quest should fail,
impersonate a submarine.

(Just for fun, each stanza begins with an exclamation.
As an additional poetic Easter-egg, the first letter of each line is an acrostic.)

An unhurried fast

Nary fast nor loose, but by slow relent, his purpose is to fast.
His mind is slow, but His resolve steadfast, this meal will be his last.

“Posthaste to start is quickly done”, fast-paced our trials speed past,
By no Paul Simon groovy Bridge will he be sore harassed.

The battle cast in fast array, the enemy amassed
as succor comes in fast relief, the foe swiftly outclassed.

Slowly fade harsh pangs of dearth, by worship fast surpassed
Fast hastes the night through quickened prayer, bliss broken by breakfast.
